Matemática A, from 10.º ano to the Exame Nacional

What this covers in detail
Grade 10 (10.º ano)
Mathematical models for citizenship (elections, fair division, finance), statistics with univariate and bivariate data, synthetic plane geometry, functions (polynomial up to degree 2, piecewise), and analytic geometry and vectors in the plane and in space.
Grade 11 (11.º ano)
Trigonometry, the dot product, counting, sequences and arithmetic and geometric progressions, cubic, quartic and rational functions, operations with functions, and differential calculus.
Grade 12 (12.º ano)
Complex numbers, probability (conditional probability, the Normal model), exponential, logarithmic, inverse and composite functions, derivatives and approximate solution of equations — plus the optional theme.
Matemática A is a three-year course that ends in an Exame Nacional counting towards university entry. The new Aprendizagens Essenciais, phased in from 2024/25, changed what is taught in each year — these lessons follow the current programme, not the one parents may remember.

Past exams and the exam’s style of question are part of the work from 10.º ano, not a rush in the last term.

Yes — worked past papers, timed practice and a plan built from the programme and the exam’s question types.
Is it too early to start in 10.º ano?
No — it is the best time. 10.º ano sets the functions and geometry that 11.º and 12.º build on, and gaps there are much cheaper to fix early.
