Física, 12.º ano

The option subject that follows on from Física e Química A, one-to-one, online or in person around Lisbon.

What this covers in detail

Mechanics

Kinematics and dynamics of a particle in two dimensions; centre of mass and linear momentum of particle systems; fluids.

Force fields

Gravitational and electric fields; the action of magnetic fields on moving charges and electric currents.

Modern physics

Introduction to quantum physics; atomic nuclei and radioactivity.

Física is a one-year option subject in 12.º ano of Ciências e Tecnologias, following on from 10.º–11.º ano Física e Química A. It leans heavily on mathematics, and lessons connect the physics to the Matemática A tools it needs.

After FQ A

Picks up the mechanics and electromagnetism of 10.º–11.º ano and takes them further: two dimensions, fields and modern physics.

Physics with maths

Vectors, functions and derivatives come up at every step. Lessons treat the physics and the maths together.

Core areas

Classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, quantum and nuclear physics: the areas the Aprendizagens Essenciais name as structural.
