AP Physics 1: Algebra-Based
Eight units of mechanics, including fluids since the 2024-25 revision — one-to-one and online, with the AP Exam in view.
What this covers in detail
Unit 1: Kinematics
Describing motion in one and two dimensions.
Unit 2: Force and Translational Dynamics
Forces, Newton’s laws and gravitation.
Unit 3: Work, Energy, and Power
Work, kinetic and potential energy, and conservation of energy.
Unit 4: Linear Momentum
Impulse, momentum and collisions.
Unit 5: Torque and Rotational Dynamics
Rotational motion and what causes it.
Unit 6: Energy and Momentum of Rotating Systems
Rotational energy, angular momentum and orbits.
Unit 7: Oscillations
Simple harmonic motion.
Unit 8: Fluids
Pressure, buoyancy and fluid flow.
AP Physics 1 is rarely lost on the math. It asks students to explain physics in words and to reason through situations they have not seen before — which is a different skill from solving textbook problems. These lessons train exactly that, unit by unit.
What this covers
Explaining in words
Free-response questions ask for written reasoning. Lessons practice paragraph-length arguments that earn the points.
The current course
Fluids is now Unit 8 and the exam format changed in 2025. Practice matches the current exam.
Lab-based questions
Experimental design and data analysis questions are practiced, not left to chance.
