A-Level Physics
The core every exam board teaches, and the topics your board adds — one-to-one and online, with the calculations and the written explanations both practised.
What this covers in detail
Vectors and scalars
Vector and scalar quantities, resolving a vector into components, and adding vectors.
Mechanics
Kinematics and motion graphs, F = ma, projectiles, work and energy, momentum, circular motion and simple harmonic motion.
Mechanical properties of matter
Stress, strain and the Young modulus, force–extension graphs and energy stored.
Electric circuits
Current, emf and internal resistance, resistance and resistivity, DC circuits and potential dividers, and capacitors.
Waves
Polarisation and diffraction, path difference, phase and interference, and superposition and stationary waves.
Matter
Molecular kinetic theory and ideal gases, absolute zero, internal energy and specific heat capacity.
Quantum and nuclear physics
The photon model and wave–particle duality, radioactive decay and half-life, and fission, fusion and E = mc².
Fields
Gravitational and electric fields and potential, the force on a current and on a moving charge in a magnetic field, and electromagnetic induction.
The Department for Education sets a core of A-Level Physics content that every exam board must include — about 60 per cent of the course — and each board adds its own topics. The course asks for a balance of mathematical calculation and written explanation, and practical skills are assessed. These lessons cover the core and your board’s additions.
What this covers
Calculation and explanation
The course requires both. Lessons practise the written, step-by-step explanations as much as the numbers.
The maths it needs
Vectors, logarithms, trigonometry and exponential change are reinforced as the physics calls for them.
Practical skills
Practical skills are assessed at A-Level. Lessons cover measurements, uncertainties and how practical questions are asked in the papers.

Every plan includes live one-to-one lessons.
The Noktua practice platform is free with every account — even if you have not booked a lesson yet.
Lessons at the student's home carry an extra charge of €10/hour.
Common questions
Which exam boards do you cover?
AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Eduqas. The core is common; each board’s extra topics are covered from its own specification.
Do I need A-Level Maths as well?
It is not required by the course, but it helps a great deal. Without it, lessons spend more time on the maths the physics uses.
