A-Level maths: pure, statistics and mechanics
All three strands of A-Level Mathematics — one-to-one and online, with the proof, modelling and problem solving the course is built on.
What this covers in detail
Pure mathematics
Proof; algebra and functions; coordinate geometry; sequences and series; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; integration; numerical methods; and vectors.
Statistics
Statistical sampling; data presentation and interpretation; probability, including conditional probability; the binomial and Normal distributions; and statistical hypothesis testing.
Mechanics
Quantities and units; kinematics, including constant acceleration, calculus and projectiles; forces and Newton’s laws; and moments.
A-Level maths content is fixed by the Department for Education and is the same for every exam board, with no optional units: every student studies pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics. Three themes run through all of it — mathematical argument and proof, problem solving, and modelling. These lessons teach the content and those habits together.
What this covers
Pure is the backbone
Ten of the nineteen content sections are pure mathematics, and statistics and mechanics both lean on it. It gets the time it needs.
Proof and modelling
Exam questions ask for arguments and for models with stated assumptions, not only answers. Both are practised.
Your exam board’s papers
The content is shared across boards; paper styles differ. Practice uses your board’s past papers.

Common questions
Which exam boards do you cover?
AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and WJEC Eduqas. The A-Level maths content is the same for all.
What GCSE grade do I need to cope?
Each school sets its own entry requirement. Whatever the grade, lessons fill any GCSE algebra gaps early, because the whole course depends on it.
