Mechanics and Waves, from Newton to the wave equation
Classical Mechanics, Oscillations and Waves for university physics and engineering — one-to-one and online, with your problem sheets as the syllabus.
What this covers in detail
Classical Mechanics
Newton’s laws, work and energy, momentum and collisions, rotation and rigid bodies, central forces, and Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics.
Oscillations
Simple harmonic motion, damped and driven oscillators, resonance and coupled oscillators with normal modes.
Waves
The wave equation, travelling and standing waves, superposition, interference, dispersion and Fourier analysis.
First-year physics is mostly mechanics, and mechanics is mostly setting the problem up: choosing the frame, drawing the forces, writing the right equation. These lessons train that setup until it is automatic — then carry it into oscillations and waves, where the same maths keeps coming back.
What this covers
Setup before algebra
Frames, free-body diagrams and conserved quantities first — most lost marks happen before the first equation.
The maths, where it bites
Differential equations, vectors and Fourier series taught at the moment the physics needs them.
Problem sheets and past exams
Lessons work through your course’s sheets and past papers, so practice matches what is examined.

Common questions
Which courses is this for?
First- and second-year mechanics, oscillations and waves in physics and engineering degrees, including analytical mechanics (Lagrangian and Hamiltonian).
My problem is the maths, not the physics. Can this help?
Yes — that is common. The differential equations and vector calculus are taught alongside the physics rather than assumed.
