Numerical Analysis, the maths behind the algorithm
Root finding, interpolation, numerical linear algebra and numerical ODEs — one-to-one and online, with the error analysis your exam asks for and the code your project needs.
What this covers in detail
Root finding & interpolation
Bisection, Newton and secant methods, fixed-point iteration, Lagrange and Newton interpolation, splines and numerical integration.
Numerical linear algebra
LU and Cholesky factorisation, conditioning, iterative methods (Jacobi, Gauss–Seidel), least squares and eigenvalue algorithms.
Numerical ODEs
Euler and Runge–Kutta methods, multistep methods, stability, stiffness and error estimates.
Numerical Analysis sits between two exams: the one that asks you to prove a method converges, and the project that asks you to make it work. These lessons cover both — the theory of why a method is accurate and stable, and the implementation that shows it.
What this covers
Theory and code together
Every method is derived, analysed and then run — in Python or MATLAB — so the error bound on paper matches what you see on screen.
Error analysis that makes sense
Order of convergence, truncation and rounding error, stability: the part most students memorise, taught until it is understood.
Help with projects too
Guidance on assignments and implementations — how to structure the code and test it — without the work being done for you.

Common questions
Which programming language do you use?
Whichever your course uses — usually Python (NumPy/SciPy) or MATLAB. Octave and Julia are fine too.
Is this for maths students only?
No. Numerical methods courses in engineering, physics and computer science follow the same core, and lessons adapt to how your course examines it.
